Islamic Institute mourns the loss of Senator Paul Wellstone

In a tragic plane accident, reportedly due to bad weather conditions, Senator Paul Wellstone (D-MN), his wife Sheila and daughter Marcia sadly died today along with three staff members and two crew members during a campaign trip in Minnesota.

The Islamic Institute extends its sincere condolences to Senator Wellstone’s family and the families of those killed in the crash. This is a sad day for the Nation as we mourn the loss of a man that stood by his principles and beliefs and was loved by many.

Senator Wellstone was a friend to the Muslim community, and as President Bush stated today “a man of deep convictions…”

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of Senator Wellstone during this difficult period.
