Bigot Former Congressman Defeated in a California Primary Race

Eight-term Republican Congressman, Dana Rohrabacher, defeated former Congressman Bob Dornan in the California Republican primary Tuesday in what has been called a "landslide victory."

"The vote today indicates that most people believe that Bob Dornan is a self indulgent, arrogant bigot, and that's not the type of person they want representing them in Washington," said Rohrabacher

"The voters have told him (Dornan) exactly where to go; not Washington, but back home, where he can crawl under a rock," Rohrabacher added.

Former Congressman Bob Dornan used what some would describe as bigoted and racist tactics during the campaign in an attempt to defeat incumbent Congressman Dana Rohrabacher. Dornan, with the help of discredited journalists like Kenneth Timmerman, tried to tarnish Rohrabacher with false allegations, guilt by association and other strategies sadly similar to ones that were used for anti-Semitic attacks in WWII Europe.

Congressman Rohrabacher's awareness, relationship building, and understanding about Islamic countries and criticism of violence on all sides, including the Israeli Government, provided a target for Dornan and his accomplices. The people of Orange County saw beyond Dorman's distortions and cast their votes for Rohrabacher in overwhelming numbers, moving ahead with tolerance and putting racism and bigotry behind them. Rohrabacher won with over 86 percent of the vote!

"It appears the voters have decided to send a nice guy rather than a mean guy to represent them in Congress," Rohrabacher said from his Capitol Hill office.

Rohrabacher was the only Congressional candidate California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger endorsed.

Moroccan Earthquake Relief Fund

As you may know, an earthquake rocked northern Morocco on Tuesday, February 24, 2004. It struck at 2:27 am, and measured a 6.5 on the Richter scale (the aftershock measured a 4.1). The earthquake could be felt as far away as southern Spain.

The quake struck rural communities near the city of Al Hoceima, a major European 'hidden' destination spot. More than 560 people were killed as they slept in their mud and stone homes. The region is poor and underdeveloped due largely to government neglect after a Berber uprising in 1958. The poverty level forces most working-age men to European countries to look for work. The dead were mostly women, children, and the elderly, as there are few men around.

The Islamic Free Market Institute will be collecting funds to aid the survivors and victims in Morocco in the near future. For more information on how you can donate, please contact us:

Bush Administration Plans to End Enforcement of Co-Education

On Wednesday, the Bush Administration announced plans to ease restrictions on single-sex public schools, ending thirty years of endeavoring to enforce nationwide co-education.

Under the Title IX Education Act of 1972, sex discrimination in federally funded programs is illegal. The administrations since the passage of this act have taken this to essentially mean that boys and girls must be presented with the same opportunities in education. This has led to the widespread adoption of co-educational public schools.

Endorsements for single-sex education have come from diverse proponents: Sens. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-NY), Barbara Mikulski (D-MD), and Kay Bailey Hutchinson (R-TX) have all voiced political opposition. They maintain that a greater freedom of choice must be available to the American public. Sen. Hutchinson has even stated, "Single-sex education programs have been available in private schools for years. It's time for our nation's public school children to have the same options as their private school contemporaries".

Presently, there are only a few dozen schools nationwide that offer same-sex classes in traditional academic subjects. There are 93,000 public schools in the country.

Stem Cell Colonies are Dwindling

In an unpublished report issued by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), at least 16 of the 78 human stem cell colonies eligible for federal research money have died off or developed mutations that have rendered them unusable for research.

President Bush approved federally-funded research projects on 78 strains of human stem cells on August 9, 2001. The funds apply only to those strains or colonies existing prior to August 9th. To obtain stem cells, researchers must destroy a five-day old human embryo. Pres. Bush compromised between proponents of the ethical concerns surrounding the destruction of an embryo, and the potential medical benefits that stem cell research could bring.

On Wednesday, Harvard biologist Douglas Melton announced that he has created 17 healthy lines of stem cells to be available free of charge to scientists. His work was funded by Harvard University, the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, and the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. The creation of new stem cells for researching is allowed if no federal funds are used.

Trial Use of Ecstasy for Trauma Cases Approved by DEA

The federal Drug Enforcement Agency has agreed to let South Carolina physician Michael Mithoefer treat 12 trauma victims with 3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA), known more commonly by it's street name, Ecstasy (E).

The purpose of this experiment is to help patients with debilitating post-traumatic stress disorder stemming from a non-combat form of attack (i.e. victims of rape, etc) overcome their social anxieties.

The patient will check into an outpatient counseling center where he or she will be administered 125 milligrams of 99.87 percent pure MDMA. All of the patients will be required to discuss the trauma that has incapacitated them. 12 patients will receive MDMA, while 8 participants will receive a placebo. Neurological, emotional, and physical checkups will follow in the next few weeks, and following that will be the second round of drug administration.

Since MDMA was declared illegal by the DEA in the mid-1980's, a black market for Ecstasy has emerged among young people as a casual drug. Users experience feelings of compassion, love, and more importantly, (as demonstrated by this research), trust.

Researchers have concluded that on rare occasions, fatal heat exhaustion may occur if the user is left unsupervised. Additionally, ecstasy may cause permanent brain damage.

Kerry Wins Super Tuesday, Edwards Bows out of Race, Bush Begins
Campaign

Sen. John Kerry (D-MA) won 9 of the 10 states in Tuesday's primaries, including his home state of Massachusetts. Howard Dean received his first and only victory in his native state of Vermont. Kerry leads all other candidates with 1,292 delegate votes (out of the 2,162 needed to win the nomination).

Democratic nominee Sen. John Edwards (D-NC), who dubbed himself "the little engine that could", ended his campaign Wednesday. Though insisting he would remain in the race even if he did not win a single state, he was still holding out for a victory in Georgia. Though the results were close (Edwards won 32 delegates, or 42 percent, while Kerry won 37 delegates, or 47 percent), Edwards did not take the state, and graciously bowed out of the race, endorsing his top contender, Kerry. The question on everybody's minds is whether or not the Democrats will be running a Kerry-Edwards ticket in the next Presidential election.

President G.W. Bush started his re-election campaign efforts today by releasing television ads in key states around the nation, focusing on that focus on his role in the economy and on the war on terrorism. The ads will feature some footage of the events of 9/11.
